Meet Our Speaker

JUDY SHERIFF

 

Dr. Judy Sheriff is a native of North Carolina and is presently living in Washington, North Carolina, with her husband,

Dr. Richard Sheriff who is the pastor of First Baptist Church in Chocowinity, NC.

Judy received her B.A. degree in Education from Mars Hill College in 1964. At age 49 she received her master’s degree in Christian Counseling from Greenwich University, and then at age 63 she received her Ph.D. in Christian Counseling from Newburgh Theological Seminary. She and her husband, who also has his Ph.D. in Christian Counseling. Judy retired from teaching school after 33 years in the classroom. At that time, she began to write her story. In 2002, Living On Faith & Baked Potatoes was published by Fruitbearer Publishing. Her book has proven to be a helpful tool for Judy and Richard as they counsel people who experience separation and divorce. 

Dr. Sheriff is the founder of “You’re Not Alone,” a support ministry for those suffering a loss through divorce or death. She and her husband have been co-counselors for the “Military Wives and Moms” organization and offer free counseling to those with loved ones in the military or families that have lost loved ones while in the military. 

Judy has been the keynote speaker at several women’s conferences and community functions, and had the privilege of speaking as the only female speaker at the H.I.T (Husbands In Training) Christian conference.

Judy serves in many capacities at First Baptist Church in Chocowinity. She is the music director, the organist, and is also the church secretary. She began a ministry of children’s sermons which she gives each Sunday morning before her husband preaches. Before entering the ministry, Judy and Richard had a singing ministry and held concerts along the Eastern Seaboard. They produced 2 Southern Gospel CDs. 

Judy and Richard have 3 children and 4 beautiful and healthy grandchildren.
